Reliability
Currently, over 11,000 patients worldwide are enjoying the listening benefits of HiResolution® Sound delivered by the HiRes 90K implant. Since February 1, 2005—at which point a number of modifications had been incorporated into the manufacturing process. Devices in this “post-modification” category indicate a
CSR of 99.6% at the two-year interval—representing the high reliability of HiRes 90K devices presently manufactured.
Further to the implant reliability, the reliability of the externals is also an important measure Advanced Bionics’ commitment to reliability extends beyond the internal device to the external system components. Since release in 2003, more than 15,000 body-worn Platinum Sound Processors (PSP) are in distribution. Often described by clinicians as a “workhorse” processor, PSP’s average monthly return rate has been 1.28% of the total number of devices in distribution worldwide. Similarly, for Harmony, the average monthly return rate has been 1.04%. This favorable record is attributable to advanced moisture-protection features— primarily a Xylex® outer casing designed to channel moisture away from sensitive electronics and a conformal coating that further protects the electronic circuitry from moisture and humid environments.
This reliability figures (implant and external components combined) are far beyond any other competitor in the market today
